Experienced architects, Matt, also a contractor, and his wife were on the hunt for a tear down that they could transform into a new modern home. After much searching, they finally found the perfect lot—and began the process of building their new home with as much of their own labor as possible. But there was a challenge. The design of their modern home featured two large glass openings. Relying mostly on their own labor, how would they ever manage to install glass into those openings?

With his glass lifting solution secured, Matt believed that they were ready to tackle the five 800 lbs. panels of glass they’d be installing—but there were complications they hadn’t anticipated. When the shipping container arrived with the glass panels and door frames, nothing was packed as they expected. Not only did they need to lift 800 lbs. panels, they also needed to be able to move the panels laterally. The ability of the SmartLift® glass lifter to move in nearly every direction at very small intervals was key in the successful and precise placement of all the glass panels.
